The Changes Research Of Folk Beliefs Of Traditional Ethic Village

This thesis selected a traditional village as a topic point, taking Shemihu Village in the southwest of Hubei for an example, which mainly used field surveys, secondly on literature research to study the changes of the folk beliefs of the phenomenon of the village in all directions. According to the information from field surveys, the author divided folk beliefs into four different types including nature worship, ancestor worship, ghosts worship and folk taboos on the basis of different belief objects.Besides, through the comparative analysis of traditional manifestation and modern state of local folk beliefs, the author made in-depth exploration to the expression and motivations of the changing of folk belief in terms of the theory of cultural change. It was found on analysis that the belief objects, faith contents, belief forms and the function of folk beliefs in Shemihu Village have changed a lot in different degrees,which as a result of national policy, economic development, social transformation,culture and other aspects. Then, from wide view of the whole development and change course of local folk beliefs, there is a trend of desalination, which means that it has less and less influence to the living and production of people.The whole passage was divided into six parts: the first part is the introduction about research background and the meaning, research method and innovation points and related reviews; the second part is the general introduction to Shemihu Village including natural and social environment around it; the third part is the general introduction to traditional folk beliefs of Shemihu Village. This part shows the traditional manifestation of it in detail after researching a great deal of data and field investigations; the next part is the feature of traditional folk beliefs in Shemihu Village. This part described the concrete manifestation and feature of it from four aspects--the subjects, contents, forms and functions of folk beliefs; the fifth part is the motive of traditional folk beliefs in Shemihu Village. The author made specific analysis from national policy, economic development, social transformation and culture four parts on the basis of the theory of cultural change; the last part is an overall conclusion of whole essay and the future development trend of traditional civil beliefs of Shemihu village.
