The text is the core of the textbook, and it is also the comprehensive material for the teachers to train the students’ reading and writing skills. In the elementary comprehensive Chinese teaching, effective and efficient text teaching can not only further consolidate the learned words and grammar, but also combine teaching language knowledge with the cultivation of linguistic competence to improve the learners’ communicative competence. Therefore, the text plays an important role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.In the paper, it would take the foreign students who study Chinese in the Institute of International Education of Chengdu University as the research object. Through the observation and analysis of the elementary comprehensive Chinese teaching course in Chengdu University, it would describe the teaching processes and modes of the text teaching in the elementary comprehensive Chinese course to find out the theoretical foundation, and to verify its rationality and weakness. Besides, it would study the existing problems in the actual text teaching in order to improve the efficiency of class teaching. In this paper, except for the introduction and the conclusion, it would firstly discuss the current text teaching research of the elementary comprehensive Chinese course, and then research the present teaching situation of the course in Chengdu University in detail to found out the actual problems in the text teaching in class. At last, it would provide three teaching examples based on the author’s own teaching experience to explore how to go on the text teaching, and to further explore what principles and methods should be kept to promote the subject of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, and to explore how to deal with the relationship between the “teaching” and the “learning” to provide some significance and enlightenment for the text teaching of the elementary comprehensive Chinese course.
