Picture book for preschooler is one of the most important materials at early stage of childhood reading.It has distinctive features: it is presented in the way of image and text combination, and take image narrative as the main part; and narrative structure take linear narrative as the main mode; has a unique image narrative language; the fundamental purpose is to help children recognize reading and cultivate interest. These characteristics of picture books play an important role for children in the training of reading habits.For a long time, the picture books is an important part in the field of children’s literature,contemporary scholars pay much attention to it and make detailed study on its visual form,design style and narrative structure. Firstly, the text is referred to a large amount of relevant literature, learn more about the development history and research status at home and abroad; in addition, it is rooted in reality and got to know the present status of preschooler’s picture books market by literature and data analysis on the book market. Make screening and investigation on existing picture books, analyze the design elements and take the result as the primary material of market investigation. Make in-depth understanding of consumer demand on picture books by random visits, questionnaires, communication with children, parents and teachers, etc., to provide practical market basis for the picture books creation.Secondly, based on the children’s literature creation rule of "child-centered" and aimed at the cognition level and reading comprehension characteristic of 3-6 years old children, and combine with psychology, pedagogy and related guidelines at home and abroad, analyze the creation law of picture books for children at that age, and divide the image narrative into four parts at the angle of semiotics, narratology and etc. Make research on narrative strategy, organization form,narrative function and other aspects, to provide scientific and accurate theory basis for later creation.Finally, take market investigation result and literature theoretical research as the creation basis,returning to the picture books essence is the creation concept, reality demand is the creation guide, understand the psychological needs at different growing phase and design picture bookssuitable for children. Collect and analyze relevant image materials, draw up illustrations after the story script design, make repeated changes and refining, make the text and images together by typesetting, complete the final version, and explain the creation experience and research process.
