In recent years,with the continuous deepening of the reform of the new English curriculum,the role of English graded picture books on the cultivation of students’ reading ability has also attracted more and more attention.How to apply graded picture books to cultivate students’ English reading literacy and reading comprehension skills? It is a topic that primary school English teachers need to focus on.In this context,based on the children’s cognitive development theory and the emotional input hypothesis,the author mainly revolves around the following two questions: "Does graded picture books help improve the reading quality of primary school students" and "Can graded picture books help students improve their reading comprehension skills" Research on this issue.The author selected 80 sixth-grade students from Shangrao City H School who were taught by the author,and randomly divided them into experimental classes and control classes.A one-semester teaching experiment was carried out.Questionnaire surveys and comparisons of reading test scores before and after the students were used.Interview method and other research methods.According to the students’ pre-test scores,the author divides the students in the experimental class into 3 groups,and develops a reading plan of different difficulty levels for each group,and enters into a one-semester reading check-in activity.After the experiment,the author conducted a post-test on the two classes again,and conducted a questionnaire survey on the parents of the experimental class.Finally,through the sorting and analysis of relevant data,the following conclusions were drawn:(1)Graded picture books help cultivate students’ reading qualities,promote pupils’ interest in English reading,increase the frequency of students’ English reading,and help students develop good reading habits.(2)The graded picture book helps to improve students’ reading comprehension skills.By comparing the test scores before and after the experimental class and the control class,as well as the correct rate of each student’s pre-test and post-test scores in the experimental class,we find that it helps to improve students’ reading Understanding skills.Finally,the author concluded that there are many shortcomings in the research process.In addition to the relatively small number of research objects and the short duration of the research,this study also used the electronic version of the picture book reading materials. |
