| Nowadays, the translation of manual has gained great popularity among producers and customers. But generally, the quality of the translation is uneven and unsatisfactory. The purpose of this thesis is to find out some translation strategies to guide Chinese–English translation of manual. The theoretical report of this thesis comes from Nida’s functional equivalence theory. In this report, ZS800 manual translation texts are displayed, and parts of them are used as examples. Case study and comparative analysis are used in the analysis and discussion of the examples. The report finds out that cultural differences and misunderstanding are the most common problems shown in the translation texts.Most of the translation of manuals normally performs the informative, expressive and operative functions, and the report concludes that translators in this field should endeavor to achieve semantic equivalence, retain stylistic features, avoid cultural misinterpretation and respect universal conventions in the translation. The significance of this report lies in that it presents some important findings regarding the problems displayed in the translation, and the report offers some strategies to solve these problems and appeals to more effective supervision in the translation of manual. |
