A Report On The Translation Of Managing People And Organisations( Section Two Chapter Six )

With the development of the world’s economy and globalization, Chinese enterprises will have more chances, but at the same time, they will face more severe challenges. Therefore, as a key factor for the success of an enterprise, enterprise management is becoming more and more important. Although China has already had some translated books about management at present, the untranslated books have been seldom studied. Against this background, this project chooses to translate one of them and then analyze the translation of Section Two, Chapter Six of Managing People and Organisations, a book about some management methods and ways of effectively managing enterprises and motivating employees on the basis of management methods.This report is divided into four parts. The first part is an introduction to the translation project report, including background, objective and significance of the project, as well as a layout of the report. The second part gives an introduction to the source text,consisting of the introduction to the author of the book and its original edition and main contents. The third part introduces difficulties encountered in translation, such as what preparations the translator has done for the project, key points and difficult points met during translating. And then this part introduces a guiding theory“functional equivalence”. Based on the analysis of typical examples in the translation,this part also discusses translation skills used in the project, such as conversion,addition, re-arrangement of word order and change of voice. The last part concludes experiences and lessons learned from the project.
