| Historic stone is necessities of life and artworks, etc made from natural stone, which has great art, research and historical value as relics of society in history. Stone relics mainly including artworks, inscription, and instrument made by sculpturing natural stone, and stone parts of ancient buildings, etc. Historic limestone is one of the most important parts of stone relics, most of which suffering from the outdoor environment erosion and have been heavily weathered over a long period, So it is urgent to preserve them. The Ideal way to protect cultural relics is keeping control of the environment surrounding them, while, it is difficult to improve the environment of the outdoor relics in a relatively short time, therefore, we mainly protect the outdoor stone relics by surface conservation treatment. At present, there is little research about limestone surface conservation. Under this consideration, this paper study on outdoor limestone of Shun Tomb to explore suitable material and treatment processing used for surface conservation on limestone.Shun-ling is the tomb of Empress Wu, s mother, which was published as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection unit in 1961. A pair of Tianlu and lion is the significant objects of stone relics in Tang-shun Tomb, which has great art, research and historical valueLimestone of Shun Tome have been damaged seriously, suffering from the outdoor environment erosion for a long time. For example, surface weathering——such as surface corrosion and scaling, crack and surface pollution and biological diseases, etc. are found on the stone. especially the surface weathering and crack diseases seriously threaten the safety of the limestone of Shun Tomb. By analysis characteristic of the diseases and environment, we find that the key factor to diseases of limestone in Shun Tomb is water (rainfall), temperature and humidity and surface temperature of stone.In this paper, we design a series of surface conservation experiment with Wk 1001,WD-10, sino1300 and sino2500 as surface conservation materials, by Comparing protective properties and ageing resistance, we find that sino2500 more suitable to protect provide reference for conservation of similar outdoors limestone relics.Considering that parts of stone in Shun Tomb, such as base that close to the ground,which are easily affected by frequent salt water activity. When that happened again and again for a long time, the surface conservation of that parts become easy to fall off, we take a further study to compare the effect of sino2500 surface conservation with polycyclic emulsion and sino2500 conservation. Finally, we find that two conservation effect is similar, while the effect of sino2500is more stable. The effect of the double conservation is unsatisfactory, mainly because of the physicochemical properties of limestone and the bonding strength between the two materials. So, we can take a further study to find a suitable binding power between two materials, and make the conservation effect become more stable Frequent in dry-wet circulation environment. |
