The Land of Cockagine, an ancient and mysterious topic, as well as all the other kinds of imaginary land like earthly paradise, Utopia and Shangri-La, is what the humankind has been dreaming of in all ages. This is a compensation for their sufferings and inner pain, and a longing for a better life. This practice report is a summary of the translation process based on the translation of Chapter 21, 22 and 23 of Dreaming of Cockagine:Medieval Fantasies of the Perfect Life by Herman Pleij, a Dutch litterateur, historian and expert on the study of European Middle Ages. The report mainly covers four parts. The first part is the brief introduction of the translation material; the second part is the translation procedure, including the preparation, modification, polishing and finalization of the translation; the third part is the case analysis, in which the author analyzes the difficulties and solutions of the translation from four aspects: vocabulary, syntax, text and culture; and the fourth part is the summary of the translation practice, mainly the experience and lessons the author has learned from the translation process.
