Study On The Design Style Of Modern Children’s Picture Books

Now days, people values much on children’ education for the reason of the society’development and the popularization of modern education ideas. Among the pre-schooleducation, the first book for the kid’s always trying to tell stories by pictures. By readingthose excellent picture books, kids may enjoy the interesting of reading, and then help them toform a good reading habit. The picture books wasn’t developed long period in China, and notso much good books combing the story and pictures well, especially lack of those books withspecial style for children. This is a reason we need to encourage the development of Chineseoriginally picture books for children.This article analyzed the problems exist in children’s picture books in China bycomparing the foreign books situation, and drawing the conclusion that we should improvethe design level of picture books in China in the future by considering the special need ofchildren. We should study the psychology features of kids in different age level and thedifferent influence of the picture books to the form of their character and aestheticdevelopment. Along with that, by analysis the foreign excellent picture books and the designstyle factors in them, this article suggest that the design style of children’s picture booksshould be indicated by illustration, layout and form of the books.This article emphasis on the principles of design and the key factors which helping thepictures to express the inside meanings, trying to lead the study of the design style to a deeperlevel. After analyzed the children’s psychology and aesthetic features of kids, this article alsoproposed a children’s picture book design project for the kids among3to6years old. Hopingboth the theory proposed by this article and practical work may offer some useful suggestionto the design of children’s picture books.
