Discourse markers are common in daily spoken language, marked ina discourse level. Research on discourse markers, started relatively earlyin abroad, first seen in the lecture entitled "casual conversation-somefeatures of everyday spoken language " written by Randolph Quirk in1953, Obtained a wealth of research results mainly in the field of English. However, the research about the Chinese DMs started relatively lately inthe country and the research combined TCSL with the Chinese DMs werenumbered. We believe that the DMs are contributed to organize andunderstand the discourse, moreover, it plays an important role in TCSL.Based on the research both at home and abroad, this research will studythe DMs emerged in the oral class of TCSL, and it consists of thefollowing aspects:(1) Based on the original research about the DMs, this researchsummarizes the characteristics of the Chinese DMs.(2) This research takes the Senior Vietnamese Students as the objectof study, investigates the typical DMs appeared in the class of TCSLwhich used by teachers and students. Moreover, According to the internalconstituents, these typical DMs were divided into the DMs word, theDMs phrase and the DMs clause. It reveals the students’ acquisition ofDMs stmulates from the teacher by comparing the common DMs used byboth teachers and students and reflects the importance of teachers usingDMs in the class of TCSL.(3) From the perspective of discourse and communication, this articleanalyzes and summarizes the DMs’ function about teacher and student. Itproves that the students’ acquisition of DMs stmulates from the teacher by comparing the common DMs used by both teachers and students andpointed out the reason why the DMs learned by students is a subset of theDMs used by teachers.(4) To compensate for the inadequacies of DMs used by students, thispaper gives some suggestions for DMs teaching in the class of TCSL.(5) Finally, concluding remarks and pointing out the inadequacies ofthe study.
