A Report On The Consecutive Interpreting At The Video Conference Of The Board Of Directors Of Manufactur Garment Co., Ltd. In2013

With the global economic integration going further, the cross-border economicactivities occur increasingly frequently. At the same time, in order to save theeconomic management costs, to improve the communication efficiency, to reduceunnecessary traveling expenses and to encourage a low-carbon means concerning theenergy conservation, emission reduction and environmental protection, the videoconference is more and more widely applied by companies and individuals in theglobal economic activities. On September24of2013, the Board of Directors ofManufactur Garment Co.,Ltd. held a video conference in the meeting room of itsheadquarter in Nanning. Three participants, including one Chinese director and twoGerman directors, sat in three different locations during the conference, which madethe video conference an effective and economical choice for them. Since the workinglanguage of the conference was English, the author and her partner werecommissioned to be interpreters by the Chinese director. In this report, the authorretrospected in details her preparation prior to the interpreting task, focused on how todo with some special circumstances in the video conference, and discussed whetherthe strategies and solutions she applied were reasonable or not.
