This bookexplains ethnicity and race, the two popular topics influential in the world, from theperspective of sociology. The relationship between ethnicity and race is analyzed andstudied in the theory of Western pluralism. A prospect is shown of a seriescomplicated relationships between ethnicity and race through examples of typicalcases, so as to set forth the circumstances and group factors encountered by identityconstruction. The recognition and it’s originality of the author in the method ofconstruction represents a new standard of similar studies at present. The issue of therelationship between ethnicity and race not only attracts lots of American scholars, butalso are concerned by the Chinese readers. The text was translated by myself and other five classmates. I translated someparts in Chapter4&5. The text is non-literary social science version, which requiresthe translators to follow the skopos rule during translation, i.e. the translation shouldbe in the target language environment and culture and take effect as expected by theaccepter of the target language. I adopted Skopos Theory, the most important theoryof translation of German functionalism. The cores of the text are “facticity†and“Reader Levelsâ€. Therefore, Communicative Translation Strategy is adopted duringtranslation. Because of the great difference between English and Chinese, thedifficulties of the translation are polysemy of a word in English, translation ofdifficult long sentences, and translation at the discourse level. As a result, it is ofimportance that translators should have the required qualities. The purpose of thestudy is to carry out a translation practice under the guidance translation theories. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Sociology, Case Study, Ethnicity and Race, Translation Process, Translator Quality | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
