Ur III dynasty (2111BCE-2004BCE) is the last and the most powerful Sumeriandynasty. whose main financial sector is é-Puzrish-Dagan livestock, which set up onthe38year of ulgi (2056BCE) and closed on Ibbi-Sin(2024BCE) due to the poortribute. The main function ofthis livestockis to take over animals to the Empire, andsupply all kinds of animals to gods, royal families, foreign diplomats, soldiersandroyalservants.Livestock is the central financial department of ur IIIdynasty, plays an important role in the administrativeand economic management of urIII dynasty. The aim of this thesis is to reconstruct files on the cattle and flock officialDug4-ga. According to statistics, there are728unearthed files refer to Dug4-ga iné-Puzrish-Dagan, of which there are19unpublished. Dug4-ga worked in livestock for12years from AS8-IS2(ie2036BCE-2025BCE). This thesis can be dividedintofour chapters: the first chapteridentifies duties of Dug4-gain livestock; the secondchapter describesthe important working contacts of Dug4-ga during the process oftaking over (ì-dab5) and allocation (ki~Dug4-ga--ta); the third chapter analyzes therole of cattle and flock, the function of Dug4-ga when auditing other people’sexpenditures files (ba-zi); in the fourth chapter, I collated, deciphered and translatedthe files in chronological order.Through the construction and analysis of the files refer to Dug4-ga, we gotfollowing conclusions:1) From AS8-S3when the cattle and flock officialUr-kug-nun-natemporarily away from livestock, Dug4-ga allocated cattle and flock asIn-ta-è-a’s assistant, and fattener Ur-mes stamped Dug4-ga’s files as Dug4-ga’sassistant;2) From S4-S8, when Ur-kug-nun-na came back to livestock, Dug4-garestored the previous identity, stamped files as as In-ta-è-a’s assistant;3) The guardsof king which are composedby the warriors (qar-du) maybe created by Amar-Sin, butit was abolished by his little brother u-Sin after his death;4) the audit system of urIII dynasty began in AS8, terminated in IS3. This illustrates that, after succeeding asthe General Manager of the Tribute Animal Center, In-ta-è-a introduced a newaccounting system, auditor should be served by scribe (dub-sar), scribe of palace(dub-sar é-gal) or “à -tam†scribe, checking scribe always appears in the files refer totaking over dead animals and the files describing the use of animals; in order toprevent them from favoritism due to long term collusion, checking scribes’ term of office are short, and they checked the account of other person alternately. |
