A large animal tribute center by the name of the Office of Puzri?-Dagan, which is now the Drehem site in Iraq, was built by the second king (?)ulgi of the Ur III dynasty at his 38th year's dominance. The center was the organization which was in charge of the animals that were contributed by different regions and provided food for the palace, royal family, officials and soldiers. With the strengthening of the Ur III dynasty, different regions contributed more and more animals and the palace members and the officials of the royal court as well as the soldiers also needed the massive domestic animals as foods. The work in this paper is to reconstruct the documents of (?)u-Mama, who received animals mainly from Abba-saga, the majordomo of the center. The texts of the archive of (?)u-Mama are listed in chronological order, and presented in three languages: 1) Sumerian transliterations, 2) English translations, and 3) Chinese translations. From the archive, we learn that the career of (?)u-Mama lasted from the 1st month of the 6th year of Amar-Sin to the 4th month of the 8th year of Amar-Sin, altogether 3 years. In this paper, there is something else before the 2nd year of Amar-Sin or after the 9th year of Amar-Sin, concerned to (?)u-Mama.In this paper, we have also analyzed his economic activity. Among (?)u-Mama's work colleagues of the Animal Center, we see (?)u-Mama took over animals from Abba-sagga, sometimes from Lugal-amar-Kug, however, other departments took animals away from (?)u-Mama. |
