This project is the translation of a journal article Can We Let Computers Change Practice? Educators’Interpretations of Preschool Tradition and the corresponding translation report. The original text focuses on the lagging behind of new technology application in preschool and discusses the difficulty and possibility of embedding computer into preschool practice. The original essay is featured by formality, clearness, conciseness and technicality like other academic theses. The translation is confronted with certain difficulties, which would be analyzed in three levels: lexical, syntactic and discourse. In order to solve these problems, multiple strategies, such as free translation, amplification, omission and parallel text etc., are applied. Since translation is a comprehensive language transformation process, a single strategy is insufficient to handle all kinds of difficulties. Different approached are required depending on different cases. As a bridge between readers and the source texts, a qualified translator is supposed to represent the original information in the most natural and appropriate equivalent expressions. This report has four parts: the first part introduces the project background, goal, significance and preparation work; the second part goes on with the introduction and analysis of the original text; the third part elaborates the difficulties, corresponding strategies and detailed analysis of problem solving process with the practice of translation theory; finally the forth part summarizes the inspirations, experiences and lessons during the whole process of this project.
