| This article is a translation report based on the principle of Peter Newmark·sCommunicative Translation and Information Maximization theory, the object of thestudy is Chapter11and part of Chapter10in Issues and Options in Language Teachingby Stern. This book is a full description of the language teaching. According to PeterNewmark· text classification theory, this book belongs to an informative text whichshould be translated under the principle of Communicative Translation and InformationMaximization principle. The translator should pay attention to the readers· culturebackground, the ability to accept, reading habits and purpose, and should chooseappropriate translation strategy and skills in order to provide the accurate information tothe readers and make the translation fully understood by the readers.This report focuses on the analysis of the typical examples in translation and thetranslator try to find some effective solutions to the difficulties and problems in theprocess of informative text translation. It consists of four parts: the first part describesthe translation project which includes introduction of the project and text as well as thetranslation process; the second part introduces the research background of both theoryand the text, and to explain the characteristics of the text and why the translator choosethe Communicative Translation and Information Maximization as the theoreticalsupport; the third part is the core part of the report, it takes the translated resource textas examples and describes the translation process under the Translation and InformationMaximization theory; the last part is the summary of the whole report, it e xplains theproblems and the experience of the translation and issues to be solved and finally drawsa conclusion of the translation report. |
