Research On Historiography Of Miao Fenglin

Miao Fenglin is a famous historian of modern Chinese Academia.In his childhood,he had been read widely and had a good knowledge of sinology.In his youth,he studied at Nan Jing Higher Normal School and taught by famous masters such as Liu Yizheng and Liu Boming.With these,he made a solid academic foundation and cultivated a strong interest in history.After graduation in1923,he taught at Shen Yang North-East University,National Central University,Nan Jing University and devoted himself to the studying of history. Miao’s historical studies include many fields such as historiography,literature,philosophy,the buddhism,but historiography is the main emphasis of his studies.General history of China and historical criticism was the main area which Miao Fenglin focused on and achieved a lot.In all his life,he wrote many books,such as Chinese General History Outline,Chinese General History Summary,The History of Our Nation,the Culture of Chinese Nationalities,Japan’s Review and others,as well as lots of historical theses.Facing the profound social changes and grave national crisis,Miao started from the practical value of traditional culture and sought the moral similarity between east and west.He stood on the position of nationalism and sharply criticized the New Culture Movement.His work Chinese General History Outline was highly valued and kept pace with Qian Mu’s Outline of National History,which was famous in the field of20th century Chinese general history compilation.Miao was famous for his outstanding achievement in the area of general history of China and historical criticism.In recent years,a series of research papers have been successively published in Academia,discussing his academic achievements in the field of general history of China and historical criticism.However,till now,there was no panel disscussion about his historical criticism,the Chinese general history, nationalism historiography also remains to be further explored.In my thesis,I choose his research on Chinese general history, historical criticism and nationalism historiography as my study focus.I will sort out systematically his works and papers to analyse the feature and method of his research,as well as objectively evaluate his achievement and contribution in the field above.There are four parts in my thesis.The first part is introduction.It mainly elaborates the basic consideration of choosing Miao’s historiography as the title of my thesis on the basis of academic history review.The second part describes Miao Fenglin’s life and research in detail,and analyzes the profound influence of Liu Yizheng and Wu Mi’s thought and ideology on Miao’s academic life.The third is the main part of my thesis,which analyses the outstanding achievement from the aspects of Chinese general history,historical criticism and nationalism historiography.The fourth part is conclusion,which summaries the thesis and evaluates Miao Fenglin and his historiography objectively...
