Annotations to Annals of Anthology of Han Changli is an annotation of Han Yu’s poetry written by Fang Shiju from Tongcheng in Qing Dynasty, which created a chronological compiling style in compiling Han Yu’s anthology, as well as presented the characteristics of Hermeneutics in Qing Dynasty-stressing on "history". This paper will select Fang Shiju’s Annotations to Annals of Anthology of Han Changli as research subject, try to reveal the value and characteristics in the history of annotation to Hanyu’s poetry via researching this Annotation. The paper is supposed to be consisted of five parts.The preface will mainly introduce the tradition of annotation, research background and the research status.It’s supposed to discuss the Fang Shiju’s family extraction and life. It will argued that his family learning of advocating Du Fu and annotating Du Fu’s anthology, the learning pedigree of advocating the traditional Confucian education, as well as the companionship, all laid a solid foundation for his annotation.In chapter2, on this basis of analyzing the methology of annotation, the interpretation, the annotation of things and the quotation of history books, I will go into the chapter3and4.The third chapter is supposed to compare Fang Shiju’s Annotations to Annals of Anthology of Han Changli, Gu Sili’s Anthology of Changli and Zhu Xi’s the Textual Criticism of Han Yu’s Works, and analyze Annotations’ influence to annotators after that, which showed the characteristics of Anootations’ creating a chronological compiling style in compiling and stressing on "history".I will analyze Fang Shiju’s interpretation and evaluation of Han Yu’s poetry from the comments in Fang Shiju’s work in the last chapter. I will get into this research in four aspects. Firstly, Fang Shiju thought Han Yu’s poetry rooted in Confucian classics, absorbing much from the Book of Songs. Secondly, Fang Shiju admitted Han Yu’s poetry avoided cliches to seek for new style, while he also emphasized Han Yu’s coherence in writing. Thirdly, the evaluation of Han Yu’s poetry such a s reveal the deep meaning of poems and poetic methology. Fourthly, from the aspect of reception history, especially learning and absorbing by Song Dynasty person, the fact that Fang Shiju took unagreeable attuite towards Song Dynasty person’s obstinacy on poetic criticism and thought high on Song person’s compilation of works and Chronicles.
