Investigation On The Literature Of Jianwen Period, Ming Dynasty

In Ming Dynasty, Jianwen Period was specific for the Jingnan Rebellion between the Jianwen Emperor and Zhu Di. The Jingnan Rebellion ruined the culture as well as the central government, with many books banned and destroyed, especially those opponents’ collected works. Those survival essays escaped from the storm and reserved many credible information, described us a more authentic society and history of Ming Dynasty. Though they weren’t historical document, those survival collected works were valuable in historical study for their very form of existence. Form those essays, we can learn the thoughts of the authors and the condition of Ming society, They could complete our search in early Ming social history.After Zhu Yuanzhang’s coercion in the political arena, Jianwen needed to release the tension through civil administration. In this short period, collected works of Fang Xiaoru were considerable influential essays, which were specific for Fang’s Confucianism. These essays also recorded the social environment, which made them valuable in historical study.To introduce and search the aforesaid issue, I will analyze the value of those collected works of Jianwen Period in both literature and history field.The chapter one will summarize the collected works of Jianwen Period, and introduce the authors, those versions and details. The chapter two will focus on the literary value of those essays. Chapter two will study their value in literary form and history, and analyze their characteristics in statement and influence in the history of literature. In chapter three, their ideological and historical value will be searched. The former can be analyzed from their political, economic and legal thought, and the latter from their records in economic and academic field.The aforesaid two-sided study will embody the connection the inter-infiltration between history and literature more clearly, and illuminate the historical and literary value of those collected works.
