The conference and exhibition industry as an emerging service industry is one of the most potential industries. With the development of the conference and exhibition industry, it has become a new economic growth point, which is needed to be developed to promote the economy development. The quality of the translation of the Expo Brochure always influences the development of Guilin’s conference and exhibition industry, tourism industry and economy. This material for Chinese-English translation was abstracted from the Brochure of the4th China Guilin International Tourism Expo, which was collected by the author when worked as a volunteer of the Expo. This material consists of speeches by mayor and other municipal leaders, the introductions of booths in Guilin International Expo, Guilin Profile and government documents about Guilin Conference and Exhibition Industry. This report explores three aspects:how to ensure the quality of translation through translation theory and pre-translation preparations, how to achieve precision and communicative goals by analyzing text types and adopting flexible translation skills, the experience and some translations that needs further discussion. In this report, under the guidance of Newmark’s text typology theory and parallel text, the author has read many parallel texts and classified the original text types. In order to achieve precision and fluency, the translator has paid attention to the features of vocabulary, sentence and paragraph, consulted the parallel texts and adopted methods like amplification, ellipsis, conversion and sentence reconstruction. As the report reveals, a translator should focus on the study of translation theories and accumulate translation experiences and possess some professional skills and translation qualities to improve the translation competence and the quality of translation.
