Annals of the Kingdoms in the East Zhou Dynasty is a comprehensive display of culturein ideology, policy and military affairs. There are numerous questions and answers which arerelated to diplomatic etiquette, being presented to the king, inviting men of wisdom andmilitary struggle for the purpose of policy. In this paper, we identified the complex andmultitudinous social appellations based on the special social background of East ZhouDynasty and the book’s special publishing process. Taking the theory of modern Chinesegrammatical theory as the theory base to analyze Annals of the Kingdoms in the East ZhouDynasty which is regarded as the ancient Chinese language material.In this paper from the perspective of appellation, we categorized the social appellations ofAnnals of the Kingdoms in the East Zhou Dynasty to mainly analyze emotional appellation,rank appellation, age appellation and relationship appellation. With the appearance ofhistorical evolution of social appellation, analyzing of voice forms, morphological formsand semantic features of social appellation. Finally, we made use of western theory ofpragmatics combined with the Chinese traditional culture to analyze pragmatic functions,pragmatic principles and pragmatic constraints of social appellation.Finally, we compared the specific appellation in Zhou Li and Li Ji with the methods ofsynchronic analysis and historical analysis. It is a comprehensive explanation of East Zhoudynasty in terms of social cultural, language and thought as well as the depth exploration ofthe problem of grammaticalization. |
