The Political Philosophy Of Confucian Gentleman’s Study

The concept of "gentleman" has a long history, but the connotation is stil developing, Confucian concept of "gentleman" also made a series of discussion. Confucian "gentleman" has the perfect personality, through the "gentleman" type of education, Confucian hope rulers have noble moral quality, and can insist on always. Both Confucianism of Confucius, and subsequent development of mencius, xunzi, zhu xi, etc., are of a consistent emphasis on "gentleman personality". Confucian by rulers to abide by the "gentleman" virtue to guide and educate people, and finally achieve the best social ideals. The author thinks that:"gentleman" of the Confucian personality include "the virtue of benevolence","virtue of middle fair,"virtue of eiqutte","honesty respect". Confucius lived in the time of the ritual and music collapse, continuous wars between countries, the people living in hot water, no fixed abode, life not only, more important is in such circumstances, the moral quality of the people also plummeted, the wicked deeds appeared again and again, no order in society. Therefore, the Confucian in the hope of "gentleman" own virtue cultivation and moral and political law plays a role of demonstration to the people. Today, the rapid economic development, people’s material life level constantly improve, but in social moral level of landslide, shallow, official corruption phenomenon exists generally, this goes against the Confucian moral "gentleman", more conducive to the construction of a harmonious society. Modern society, in the pursuit of material, people gradually lose myself, in order to the maximization of self-interest, by hook or by crook, this is not conducive to social stability and harmony, which in turn is conducive to the healthy, stable and sustainable development of economy. Aiming at this phenomenon, we need to study of Confucian idea of "gentleman", through "a gentleman" moral building and remodeling, promote the moral level of today.
