Confucius and Mencius advocate being a virtuous person,Gentleman virtue is an important virtue which is praised highly by Confucius and Mencius. In the late Spring and Autumn Period, ritual system had collapsed, while vassal kingdoms had risen to struggle for the control of the world. Face such social reality, the Confucius based on thoughts from the historical materials, and he appealed that the community should be reformed and retrieved that period by Benevolence. And there must be Gentleman to fulfill the Benevolence, to solve the social evils. Mencius inherited and developed the gentleman character from the Confucius. Mencius thought and proposed that Benevolence and Righteousness must proceeds together in the man who has the Gentleman Virtue .Since the Gentleman in The Analects of Confucius has his own virtue, the Gentleman is the Practitioner of the ideals of Benevolence and Righteousness of Confucius and Mencius Rites-Music culture. The first part of the paper studies the historical background and theoretical base of View of the Gentleman Virtue of Pre-Qin Confucian.The content of Gentleman has transformed from power into virtue, and Confucius played a very important role in this transformation. The second part of the paper analyses the content of view of the gentleman virtue in The Analects of Confucius, and this gentleman virtue includes many virtues, such as'Benevolence','Righteousness','Mean','Wisdom','Propriety','Learn and Teach'and'Action'.'Benevolence'is generally interpreted as loving others. However,benevolence is not a kind of single virtue , the benevolence need more kinds of virtue. Righteousness is relative to interest. The significant difference between Gentleman and mean person is their attitude to righteousness and interest. Gentleman loves righteousness, but the mean person loves interest. The happiness of Confucius is study, review and put it into practice. We need to arouse the enthusiasm of the learners. Propriety is the form of the benevolence and righteousness. We need to strengthen the heart of proprieties, as to build up a harmony relation of mutual understanding or trust between people. Gentleman cultivates inner and outside, and avoid crankiness, which is called to"mean"virtue. Confucius said to his student:'Hold what you really know and tell what you do not know——this will lead to knowledge.'This direct us:Be an honest person and do practical work. In The Analects of Confucius, Confucius emphasized the'Action', and this is inevitable. Gentleman should not rest on acknowledging verbally, but fulfill'benevolence','righteousness'and'Propriety'through doing it.Pre-Qin Confucian, particularly Confucius and Mencius, proposed the View of the Gentleman Virtue, has displayed significant influence in pre-Qin later society history. In one hand, taking View of the Gentleman Virtue as ideal personality, has accomplished one batch to have the gentleman special characteristic sage. The social influence of the Gentleman Virtue was prominent, has guided positively upward, unceasingly the enterprising social morality. On the other hand, misusing gentleman virtue ,or only emphasizing moral characters, but neglects gentleman's other moral characters, will inevitably cause the gentleman's moral character to be misinterpreted. And this will deeply affect the progress of the society. In the third part, this paper evaluates the value View of the Gentleman Virtue of Pre-Qin Confucian in the history from the influence to governing a country, the influence to the offspring ideologist, and the influence to moral ideal in the history.The View of the Gentleman Virtue is the unity of various gentleman characters, the coalition of many virtues. We have to develop the action of resultant force of Gentleman Virtue. We must avoid dissevering Gentleman Virtue into pieces various characters of gentleman. Basing on the second part and the third part, the last part of the paper analyses the mean and revelation of the View of the Gentleman Virtue of Pre-Qin Confucian, which includes the meaning to harmonious development of the society, the revelation to education in modern times, and meaning to all-round development of human being. For a long time, gentleman virtue has becomes strength of personal spirit and the way of cultivating one's moral character. The gentleman character is not only a kind of disposition accomplishment of ego, but also a kind of behavior method and an important factor of social progress. The View of the Gentleman Virtue has a graveness meaning in the community politics. Today, our education, good factor have to draw lessons from'Benevolence','Righteousness','Mean','Wisdom','Propriety','Learn and Teach'and'Action'. We have to transform traditional education obedience.
