| Energy is the material basis for human survival and economic development. In recent years,with the development of our world, the demand for energy is increasing. However, as we allknown, most of the energy in the world such as petroleum, natural gas are non-renewable.Therefore, the contradiction between energy supply and demand is becoming increasinglyprominent. In order to build an environmental-friendly society, the whole world is paying moreand more attention to energy conservation now. However, most provinces and cities have nocorresponding English versions of Energy-conservation Law on their official websites and thereare lots of problems for the few existing translations. This report intends to explore this problemthrough the English translation of Qingdao Twelfth Five-year Plan for Energy Conservation.This report is based on the author’s translation experience for Qingdao Twelfth Five-yearPlan for Energy Conservation, and provides an explicit description about the background of thetask, translation process and case analysis. Firstly, the author presents a brief introduction of thereport and a description of the task; then she introduces the case analysis from the perspective oflexical level, syntactic-level and textual-level; at last, the author summarizes her experience andgives suggestions for further translation.Qingdao Twelfth Five-year Plan for Energy Conservation is a government document, whichis an article of a particularly serious style with accuracy and objectivity, especially requiring thefidelity during the translation. This report aims to analyze the English translation of QingdaoTwelfth Five-year Plan for Energy Conservation under the guidance of the Skopos Theory.Furthermore, in order to accurately convey the political, economic and cultural policies of China,the author adopts a lot of examples to illustrate several translation strategies, such as addition,omission, conversion and restructuring, etc.By providing her translation experience, the author hopes that she can make contributions tothe C-E translation of government documents and give some enlightenment for those whotranslate such kind of documents. |
