This is a translation report on Magic for Marigold by Lucy Maud Montgomery, of which Chapter3April Promise and Chapter4Marigold Goes A-visiting is the source text. The report mainly includes four parts, and the emphasis is focused on case studies. In the process of translation, the author has adopted several practical translation methods in view of the different translation problems, namely transliteration, paraphrase, amplification, omission, division, all of which makes the language more concise, clear, and logical for the purpose of reader’s understanding. The translation is reader-centered and based on the skopos theory, and the author holds the view that the translation theory is of great guiding significance to translation practice, which contributes to translators’ability of flexibly choosing and using translation strategies to improve the quality of children’s literature translation so that young readers can read a better translation version.
