A Research Report On Excerpt Translation Of Dear Life From The Perspective Of Chesterman’s Translation Norms

This translation report is a comprehensive conclusion of the translation of DearLife written by Alice Munro, the Nobel Prize winner in literature.Dear Life is a collection of12short stories, of which the first, the second and theeighth stories are translated for the report. Characters in these stories are flawed andfully human but their stories strike people. Alice Munro pinpoints that a person can beforever altered by a chance encountered, an action not taken, or a simple twist of fate.Based on the translation and guided by Chesterman’s Norms Theory, the reportanalyzes the role of this theory in translation from the translator’s choosing sourcetext, setting macro translation policy and solving concrete translation problems.This report consists of five chapters.
