The source text For-Profit Philanthropy written by Dana Brakman Raiser is a jurisprudential article and a practical text which complies with the requirement of the graduation project. Besides, researches of for-profit philanthropy are few done at home and thus the target text will turns to be a practical reference. Through the translation of For-Profit Philanthropy, I hope this report will enhance our understanding of for-profit philanthropy, which contributes to the construction and improvement of philanthropy laws and regulations in China, while exploring translation skills and problems of informative function text.Under the guidance of Peter Newark’s text translation theory and translation variation theory,this report analyzes some translation examples by applying addition, subtraction and combination and the translation process, and summarizes the problems in the encountered translation practice.This report comprises six parts: Chapter One is an introduction; the background of the translation project is described in Chapter Two, including the significance of the translation and a brief introduction and an analysis of the source text; in Chapter Three, the whole translation process are described, including preparation before translating and appraisal after translating; in Chapter Four, some translation examples are analyzed in two aspects: lexical accommodation and syntactic accommodation, in order to discuss the translation methods and skills; translation experience and problems are summarized in Chapter Five; Chapter Six is the conclusion.
