China’s mask art has a long history, widely circulated, rich in content. In thelong years,it development with primitive dance, sorcery, totem worship, folk dance,drama, mutual integration,interdependence.Vividly reflects the concept of variousnationalities of beliefs, customs and habits, life ideal,aesthetic temperament andinterest.Mr. Ji Xianlin has an insightful words:” The world’s oldest, most widely,ranging from impact and far-reaching influence culture only four, that is Chineseculture, Indian culture, Greek culture and islamic culture, there is no fifth, Indeed thecultural crossroads of only one, that is China’s Dunhuang and Xinjiang”. The SilkRoad opened, make the different cultural art, mutual absorption andharmony,integration in the western regions. The so important geographic location forXinjiang gives birth to the unique culture,In Xinjiang the mask has its uniquecultural accumulation.This paper takes Xinjiang excavated ancient mask,Kuche’s stone mask,Xinyuan’s wooden mask,Yuli Yingpan tomb’s gold foil paste fabric mask,ZhaosuPOMA tomb’s gold inlaid rubies mask as the object of study.From an aesthetic pointof view, to study its artistic and decorative features, reduction of aesthetic conceptwhere the period of mask; Research the cultural connotation, explore and probe itsbehind the rich humanities connotation and its realistic meaning, respectively,fromaspects of mask culture and Xinjiang local history and culture. Provide a theoreticalreference for the study of Xinjiang local culture and local culture in Xinjiang history,folklore, art.
