The gold masks unearthed from the Jinsha site and the gold masks unearthed on the head of a bronze man unearthed from Sanxingdui all reflect the style characteristics that are completely different from other mask cultures in the world in terms of shape,craftsmanship and usage.Unlike the masks mostly used in the West for funeral customs and embodying the concept of life and death,the golden sand gold masks unearthed in the sacrificial pit are closer to the product of a special religious culture in terms of their functions.Therefore,the exploration of the shape function,symbol and meaning of the golden sand golden mask will provide a broader field for the study of the primitive art,folk customs,religious culture and historical development of the ancient Shu area.Therefore,this article will make a comprehensive data collection and systematic arrangement of the source and shape of the golden masks at the Jinsha site.Through the comparison of the related ancient books and the specific styles of the unearthed objects,the relationship between it and the Sanxingdui gold mask was analyzed;through the relevant archaeological research data,the relationship between the ancient Shu culture and the Southwest Silk Road was analyzed to explore the exchange of Jinsha culture to the outside world The influence of the golden mask on the materials,craftsmanship,and style;through the existing research results on the change of ethnic groups in Shudi,combined with the ancient ethnic records of relevant ethnic minorities,myths and legends,etc.,to analyze the functional use of the golden mask and its place Contained the ancient Shu people’s religious beliefs,life and death concepts and other issues.Finally,by comparing the gold masks at Jinsha site with the bronze masks of Sanxingdui,the development of ancient Shu gold masks and the reasons why they occurred in the ancient Shu culture were summarized.This paper hopes to rationally analyze and explain the cultural origin,shape craftsmanship,religious connotation,and influence of the golden masks in the ancient Shu area to supplement the existing research on the ancient mask culture in Shu.At the same time,it also made a more detailed exploration and research from the point of entry of the mask for the development of civilization in the Sanshuidui-Jinsha period and cultural exchanges with the outside world in the ancient Shu area.
