Based on the differences in working mode, simultaneous interpreting (SI) can befurther divided into simultaneous interpreting with text and simultaneous interpretingwithout text. In SI with text, interpreters interpret simultaneously while listening tothe speakers’ real-time source language output and, at the same time, referring to thewritten speech scripts. In this practice report, the author discusses his interpreting experience at the“New Guangzhou· New Business”2013Promotion Seminar for Healthcare andMedical Service Complex. The practice report describes the whole process of theinterpreting task accurately and elaborately. On the basis of having had read relevantliterature, the author undertakes case analyses of the most prominent--problems hewas confronted with in this simultaneous-interpreting-with-text task, that is, thesyntactical differences of Chinese and English. After the analyses, the author putsforward his suggested coping tactics to handle these differences, which are addingsubjects and logical connectives, postponing the attributes and fronting theinformation focus. In the last chapter, the author draws the discussion to a naturalconclusion. In completing this practice report, the author bears the hope of presenting a moreobjective and precise picture of SI with text to his readers. Moreover, the author alsohopes that this practice report can be of some use to other interpreters in terms ofdealing with the syntactical differences of Chinese and English and further helpingenhance the quality of interpreting in their future practices.
