The main product of Su Xuelin’s deliberation of Qu Fu is the exploration ofmythology in Chu Ci, which aims to probe cultural elements from mythology. Goingwith the trend of times and personal opportunities, Su Xuelin developed timelessresearch methods due to unceasing devotion on Chu ci all the year round, though hertheories such as “foreign culture” and “the world’s same origin” should be moremeditated.The thesis has been divided into three parts. In part one, the writer mainly sortout the social background and unique personal opportunities for the formation of themythological thinking in Chu Ci. the trend of “mythological study” and her personalinterest at that time advanced her valuation and investigation for mythology in Chu Ci.Then she summarizes the possibility and occasionality of her research. Part two sumsup the connotation of the mythology of Chu Ci from four aspects: the analysis oforigin of Chu Ci; the research of Kun Lun’s prototype and evolution, the discussion of“foreign religion thinking” in Jiu Ge and the comprehending of “foreign mythology”in Tian Wen. According to this, part three includes the distinctiveness and deficiencyof Su Xuelin’s study related to mythology of Chu Ci. The distinctiveness is worthreferencing and learning for pundits such as macro global perspective, the microcomplements for background information, the combination of traditional and modernconsideration and also the comprehensive study. Meanwhile, the pundits should drawreflections and lessons from the disadvantages such as “the overladen western bias”and “the excessive contrastive method”.In addition, the conclusion discusses the influence handed down to generationsof Su Xuelin’s mythological idea in Chu Ci.
