The Report Of The Translation Of The Encyclopedia Of Police Science

Nowadays, China’s socialist legal system has been established. However, it doesn’tmean that we could stop to learning from the advanced western legal system. Currently,with the syncretism of the Chinese and western legal culture, the translation of westernlegal document is becoming more and more important. However, the use of passivesentences is very frequent in legal English. Therefore, the analysis and translation ofpassive sentences is one of the most important and difficult parts. Based on thetranslation practice, this report summarizes the translation of passive sentences in legalEnglish and mainly puts forward three translation strategies. This report mainly consistsof four parts: description of translation task, description of translation process,translation case analysis and summary. And the background and characteristics of thetranslation task will be introduced in the first part; then the translation process will bebriefly introduced in the second part; in the third part, the translation methods of passivesentences in legal English are discussed, they are, translating English passive sentencesinto Chinese passive sentences, translating English passive sentences into activesentences and non-subject sentences; at last, the summary of the translation task is givenand then some other problems in legal translation are also put forward.
