Peking Opera attaches great importance to use color to create ail atmosphereand to shape characters.The colorful bizarre magic mask have the independent value,which is the famous Chinese and foreign art treasures.As a special makeup andformative art in the Chinese opera, Chinese opera facial makeup has beenprofoundly influenced and nurtured by traditional Chinese culture and national spirit;it has broadly inherited and absorbed precious nourishments of folk arts. Havingboldly drawn on decorative techniques and color using principles from the folk arts,and refined, processed and transformed various kinds of artistic elements, operafacial makeup formed a unique/particular decorative art means and color using designrules with aesthetic and modeling characteristics. Depending on exaggeratedmodeling as well as abundant colors and patterns, features of opera roles representsuch characteristics of loyalty and turpitude, good and evil, beauty and ugliness aswell as characters. In the long term social life, people have formed conventionalconsensus on the facial make-ups, which contain praise and blame and distinguishgood from evil. Theses facial make-ups are full of strong moral evaluation feelingsand historical knowledge and meanwhile reflect manifold factors of traditionalChinese culture.At present, fundamental values of traditional Chinese culture still exist;localcultures are also frequently emphasized in the design. However, design andapplication of facial make-ups, more often than not, are in a vogue and confusedstatus of “using daily but being unaware”. Exploring modeling rules, colorlanguages, visual symbol language and deeply excavating the connotation oftraditional national cultures in the opera facial make-ups, which are part oftraditional Chinese culture, enable us to find more content as references of moderndesign. The artistic elements as well as cultural and spiritual factors contained in thefacial make-ups, of positive significance, play an enlightening role and become aninexhaustible treasury in the modern design.The article will study the colorful clothes and the masks in the opera stage,and explore the art of Peking Opera with characteristics from the perspective ofcolor,and sum up and analyze the color regulation.Specially apply Natural ColorSystem to analyze the color of Peking Opera masks.In order to interpret the principleand origin of the Peking Opera clothing and masks,we will look for the meaning andInspire on modern color design....
