| In this thesis, the author collects statistics of the frequency of use in people’s daily of4218new idioms which have caused extensive attention of scholars and the public. Thenanalyses352items one by one from eight aspects: conventional, stable, contemporary,four-syllable, depicting, double-layer meaning, refined and concise, and duality. According tocategory theory, the author divides them into59typical idioms,124atypical idioms,19edgeidioms and150non-idioms. At last, the author analyses origins of new idioms base on typicalidioms.The thesis is composed of five chapters:The first chapter introduces research background, the source of the corpus,research purposes and research methods.The second chapter introduces current researches on new idioms. Then finds out someproblems that exist in current researches by processing researche data in people’s daily.The third chapter defines new idioms. Reviews the current researches of definition anddistinction of traditional idioms firstly, then proposes define standards, at last divides newidioms into four categories according to category theory: typical idiom, atypical idiom, edgeidiom and non-idioms.The forth chapter analyses origins of typical idioms, mainly from literature works,nomenclature, spoken language, national policy and chairmen’ inventions, and borrowedwords.The fifth chapter brings forward the next step on the research and criterion of new idiom.The confirmation of a new idiom still needs future research and the test of time. |
