Purpose:Among the papers in Internet using, there appears to be little consensus about the relationship between Internet addiction tendency and shyness. To remedy the defect, this study will discuss the relationship between shyness, interpersonal skills, loneliness, demographic variable and Internet addiction tendency.Method:Sample from5universities in the city of Bao Ding, we hand out350questionnaires and283valid questionnaires were returned. The Cheek and Buss Shyness scale(Cheek&Buss,1983), Interpersonal Competence Questionnaire(Wang Yingchun,2007), UCLA(University of California at Los Angeles, Russell,1980), and Internet Addiction Scale for Different Types(Zhou Zhijin&Yang Wenjiao,2006).Results:(1) College students’Internet addiction tendency has significant differences both in gender and grade factors. And boys have a higher tendency of Internet addiction than girls. Sophomore showed a higher tendency of Internet information addiction than freshman. Boys felt more lonely than girls.(2) Loneliness has full mediating effect between shyness and Internet addiction tendency, Internet game addiction tendency, Cyber-relationship addiction tendency. Loneliness has significant positive and direct predictive effect on Internet addiction tendency. Shyness has indirect effect on Internet game addiction tendency and Internet interpersonal relationship addiction tendency.(3) There is interaction between interpersonal skill and shyness on Internet addiction tendency, Internet game addiction tendency, and Cyber-relationship addiction tendency.
