More and more middle school students are addicted to Internet games,middle school students internet game addiction has become a serious psychological and social problem.Studies have reported that high shyness are likely to become addicted to internet games,the reason is that high shyness leads to low self-esteem,fear of others’evaluation,avoidance of social interaction,and a stronger sense of loneliness.In order to satisfy the inner needs such as sense of achievement and relationship,they seek the support of online society to compensate,and internet games are the most favored way for them to realize the compensation.The main goal of cognitive behavior group therapy is to correct the unreasonable cognition of middle school students,so as to make them know themselves correctly and improve their sense of self-efficacy.Through a series of behavioral training,the shy person can get a good interpersonal experience,improving the social skills and the non-adaptive behavior,finally,reduce the degree of internet addiction of middle school students addicted to online games.In this paper,two studies are designed.The first study is an investigation study.The subjects of the study are students from junior one and junior two,senior one and senior two,in Wuhan,Hubei province.Demographic questionnaires,a shyness scale and an internet game addiction scale were distributed,a total of 752 questionnaires were issued,the aim was to complete the relationship between shyness and internet game addiction.Study II is a intervention research.Combined study one,an appropriate group counseling scheme was designed,and a number of students with relatively high levels of shyness and internet game addiction were screened out.Finally,24 effective subjects were identified through interviews,and 12 participants in the experimental group and the control group were randomly grouped.The experimental group underwent 9 CBT group interventions,while the control group did not have any intervention.Before and after the experiment,the levels of internet game addiction and shyness were measured,and the results of the experiment were statistically analysed,to compare the differences in the levels of internet game addiction and shyness before and after the experiment.The results of study I showed that there was a normal correlation between shyness and internet game addiction among middle students.Before the intervention,the results of experimental and the control group were the same indicating that the two.groups were homogenous The posttest shyness and internet game addiction scores of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group,we found that the shyness of the experimental group has been improved after intervention,and the degree of internet game addiction has been reduced correspondingly,there was no changes in the control group.Conclusions:1)there is normal correlation between shyness and internet game addiction among middle students.2)CBT group counseling can effectively improve the shyness level of middle students addicted to internet game addiction;3)Improving shyness level can alleviate the level of internet game addiction in middle school students.
