Objective:To observe the effect of Rougan Ningsheng Decotion (RGNSD)to treat the insomnia of Xinganyinxu Tanrenierao syndrome.Methods:90 cases were randomly divided into three groups; Two were added to the treatment group later, making 32 patients, who were given RGNSD treatment; The 30 patients of the Chinese medicine control group were given ShuMian capsule treatment; and The 30 patients of the western medicine control group were given alprazolam capsule treatment. Before and after treatment, Pitts-burgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) scores, Chinese Traditional Symptom scores, Self-rating of Depression Scale (SDS) scores and Self-Rating of Anxiety Scale (SAS) scores were accumulated, and the side-effects of the drugs were noted.Results:1. Cardinal efficiency index:(1) The quality of sleep was improved to a great extent in all three groups. The treatment group’s total efficacy rate was 84.37%, higher than the Chinese medicine group (70%), there was statistical significance(P<0.05) between those two groups; but camparing with the western medicine group(84.37%),there was no statistical significance(P>0.05). (2) The Chinese Traditional Symptom scores of all three groups showed improvement obviously. The treatment group’s total efficacy rate was 90.63%, significantly Higher than the Chinese medicine group(76.67%) and the western medicine group(66.67%), The treatment group’s efficacy rate was better than that of the Chinese medicine group(P<0.05), and markedly better than that of the western medicine group(P< 0.01).2. Minor efficiency index:The symptoms of Depression and Anxiety all were alleviated markedly, The treatment group’s efficacy was better than that of the other two groups in alleviating Depression(P < 0.01), and better than that of the Chinese medicine group in alleviating Anxiety, however, there was no statistical significance between the treatment group and the western medicine group(P> 0.05). 3. Side-effects:Hypersomnia, fatigue, xerostomia, dizziness, nausea, anorexia and diarrhea were usual. The treatment group had a lower rate of hypersomnia(P<0.01), and lower rates of fatigue and nausea symptoms than did the western medicine group(P<0.05).Conclusion:RGNSD has good efficiency in the treatment of the insomnia of Xinganyinxu Tanrenierao syndrome, not only improving the quality of sleep, and Chinese traditional symptom scores, but also decreasing the symptoms of Depression and Anxiety, with fewer side-effects.
