Objective: To understand the diet behavior of left-behind elders’ in countryside, to analysis the diet behavior effect on BMI, chronic condition, self-rated health condition, to give advice on the side of diet to improve the health condition of left-behind elders’ in countryside.Methods: Investigators doing face to face interview with interviewees and fill in the self-designed questionnaires. The questionnaire included: Demographic characteristics, Health and health maintenance, living habit and so on. We use WPS2013 software system for data entry, we do double entry, to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data input, then use spss19.0 software for data analysis. Statistical methods include: general descriptive statistical analysis, chi-square test, spearman correlation analysis.Results:1.Rural left-behind elders basic situationThe good eating habbits are:more than 70% choose mix meat quality, eating half-full or 70%-80%-full, eat moderate speed or slower, eat breakfast everyday, choose light diet, don’t smoke now, don’t drinking. Which needs improved are: more than 45% eat two meals everyday, don’t eat at fixed time, choose a fried dish, choose animal oil, drink less than 5 cups of water.The food consumption are: the main food are grains and vegetables, 30% will eat meat everyday, the left-behind elderly diet is relatively single, more than 35% never eat nuts, never eat milk and dairy products, never eat shrimp.The chronic prevalence rate of left-behind elders is 74.33%, 44% of them think they are in good and very good health, 59.33% of them are in normal BMI, 40.67% of them are malnutrition,overweight or obesity, 35% of them are still working on farm, 34.83% have never participated in health examination.2.The dietary behavior and food consumption of Left-behind elders’ influence on BMIThe difference of the left-behind elders’ BMI who are different in daily meal times, food-intake, eating speed, breakfast, taste, cooking-oil, water-intake have statistical significance.(Level of Statistical analysis inspection is P < 0.05). The consumption frequency of fruit(rs=0.132), eggs(rs=0.098), beans and soy products(rs=0.106), fish(rs=-0.111), nuts(rs=-0.111), livestock meat(rs=-0.119) have connection with the BMI.3.The dietary behavior and food consumption of Left-behind elders’ influence on Chronic diseaseThe difference of the left-behind elders’ Chronic disease conditions who are different in daily meal times, meal time, dietary recipe, cooking-oil, smoking, drinking have statistical significance.(Level of Statistical analysis inspection is P < 0.05). The consumption frequency of fruit(rs=0.085), fish and shrimp(rs=0.091), livestock meat(rs=-0.143), have connection with the chronic disease.4.The dietary behavior and food consumption of Left-behind elders’ influence on self-rated healthThe difference of the left-behind elders’ Chronic disease conditions who are different in meal time, eating speed, breakfast, taste, cooking-oil, cooking, smoking, drinking, water-intake have statistical significance.(Level of Statistical analysis inspection is P < 0.05). The consumption frequency of fruit(rs=0.116), beans and bean product(rs=0.127), poultry(rs=-0.068), livestock meat(rs=-0.18), eggs(rs=-0.127), milk and milk products(rs=-0.105) have connection with the self-rated health.Discussions:For better control of weight, control of Chronic disease,improve the self-rated health,the suggestions on eating behavior are as follows: eat three meals a day, eat at fixed time, eat vegetarian diet, choose vegetable oil, drink more water. Increase the consumption frequency of fruits, eggs, beans and bean products, fish and nuts, control the consumption frequency of livestock meat.Suggestion:Improve rural left-behind elderly nutrition intervention program, issued appropriate dietary guidelines for the elders, strengthen the standardization construction of village clinics, take advantage of big data for security health maintenance, set up the comprehensive system of long-term care, improve policy support and guarantee.
