Objectives By discussing about the similarities and differences of the obesity hypoventilation syndrome and the obstructive sleep apnea syndrome in the clinical characteristics aspect,to provide the basis for us to correct identificate the two diseases in clinical work。Methods Using case-control study as the research methods,we select 35 patients with OHS and 45 patients with OSAHS from 2010-2015 in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region People’s Hospital for hospitalization to select clinical data, summarize and statistically analyze. Results OHS group and OSAHS group’s differences in age and sex ratio has nostatistical significance(P > 0.05).28 people of OHS group have a history ofsmoking, while 35 people of OSAHS group have a history of smoking, but whenafter tables from chi-square test, the difference was no statistically significance(P >0.05).After using statistical computing, the BMI、neck circumference、waistcircumference of OHS group and OSAHS group in the form of mean±standarddeviation are represented 35.6±4.8、29.3±4.2,50.6±7.2、37±2.1,113±10.1、99.2±8.1,when by t- test between groups, the result is P <0.05,which representsthe difference was statistically significant.Compared with OSAHS patients,OHSpatients‘ daytime sleepiness occurs more,so ESS score was higher, and thedifference was statistically significant(P <0.05).For OHS group of patients, memory loss, the morning headache, leg edema, dry mouth in the morning, arousalduring sleep at night which are more common clinical symptoms, and thedifference compared with OSAHS group was statistically significant(P <0.05),thedifference of nocturia increased was no statistically significance. For the twogroups, the Pa O2, the Pa CO2,the lowest oxygen saturation, the average oxygensaturation, time of the oxygen saturation <90%, apnea-hypopnea index(AHI), theaverage duration of hypopnea difference was statistically significant( P <0.05).The sleep apnea duration was no significant difference(P> 0.05). lung function in patients with OSAHS group prompting:the FEV1, FVC, FEV1 / FVC, MVV, VC was mostly normal, while the FEV1, FVC, MVV, VC,FEV1/FEV1 predof the patients of OHS group were decreased, and when the groups were compared with OSAHS prompting statistically significance(P <0.05).The FEV1/FVC was mostly normal, the difference was no statistically significance(P> 0.05).Compared with OSAHSgroup,OHS group’s number of cases combination with hypertension, coronaryheart disease, cognitive disorders, cerebrovascular disease and the type of IIrespiratory failure are more, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion When the OHS group compared with OSAHS group:the degree ofobesity heavier, the probability 、the types and the severity of the occurrence of clinical symptoms are more.Usually there will be corresponding changes in lungfunction to OHS group, and the OHS group have the lack of oxygen levels and itsduration and,the chances of produce complications are more.
