Abstract/Summary:
Objective To discuss the feasibility of modified early warning score in predicting emergency chest pain patient’s location and prognosis. To provide a scientific reference for emergency medical personnel in rapidly assessing chest pain patients and reasonable triaging them. Methods We chose 2224 cases of chest pain patients as our research object for prospective investigation from May 2014~May 2015 in a tertiary level hospital emergency department in Xinjiang. Triaging nurse collected relevant data for MEWS When patients into the emergency department. It was the researcher’s responsible for tracking the of patients and their prognosis, We took out of the hospital as our end points. Analyzed relationship between MEWS and patient’s location and prognosis, at the same time evaluated predictive ability for them. Results 1. It was a positive correlation between MEWS and patient’s location and prognosis, correlation coefficients were 0.564, 0.617. 2. The MEWS of ICU group was higher than non-ICU group, the MEWS of death group was higher than survival group, the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05). 3. MEWS score in predicting patient’s location AUROCC was 0.61, the best cutoff value was 2.5 points, sensitivity was 35.5%, specificity was 80.4%. 4. MEWS score in predicting prognosis AUROCC was 0.84, the best cutoff value was 3.5 points, sensitivity was 71.3%, specificity was 86.3%. 5. MEWS was divided into three segments: 0~2.5 points,2.6~3.5 and 3.6~14 points, the more MEWS, the more ICU admission rate and mortality rate, the differences were statistically significant(P <0.05).Conclusion 1. The MEWS score can be used to evaluate emergency chest pain patient’s location and prognosis, the higher MEWS, the more severe the patient’s condition, the greater the risk of ICU admission, the worse the prognosis. 2. The best cutoff value of patient’s location is 2.5 points, and the best cutoff value of patient’s condition is 3.5 points. 3. It has medium value for chest pain patients’ location and prognosis...
