Objective:To study the role of acute physiology and chronic health evaluation(APACHE)II score, simple clinical score(SCS) and modified early warning score(MEWS) in predicting the prognosis in severe patients of emergengcy department.Methods:230patients who treated in emergency department were evaluated with APACHE-Ⅱ, SCS and MEWS.Analysed the hospital mortality of different score in patients.According to the mortality, the consistency of these three scores to the patient outcomes were compared, and area under the ROC curve was used to evaluate the accuracy of these three scores in predicting patient outcomes. Results:With the scores increasing, the mortality was increased as well.APACHE-II,SCS and MEWS has consistency.Area under ROC curve of APACHE-II,SCS and MEWS was0.876,0.810and0.780,respectively.Conclusions:All these Three scores were useful predictors of outcomes in severe patients. The accuracy rank of these three scores in predicting the outcomes is APACHE-II> SCS> MEWS.However, the characteristic of fast and Convenience makes SCS more suitable for early prognostic evaluation in emergency department.
