Objective To construct continue nursing needs assessment system of patients with end-stage renal disease which is suitable for the situation of our country, and to test reliability and validity of quantitative indicators. Methods The first step was to delete, merge and supply evaluation index of the Omaha system by literature analysis, individual interview and clinical practice. The second step was to revise index by delphi method, preliminary investigation, project analysis and testing of validity and reliability. Results( 1) 15 nursing experts were enrolled in the assessment system investigation by Delphi, the expert’s positive coefficients of 2 rounds were 88.2% and 100% respectively, authority coefficient was 0.83, generally coordination coefficients were 0.20 and 0.53, P<0. 01. The assessment system consists of ABC three parts:the A part was the basic data of patients; the B part was including 4 first-leve1 indicators which were physiological, cognitive, psychosocial and health related behavior and 30 second-leve1 indicators; the C part was the services of care needs, including nursing demand level assessment and intervention project. The Content Validity Index(CVI) was tested by I-CVI and S﹣CVI, S﹣CVI had two kinds of S﹣CVI/UA and S﹣CVI /Ave, Our results showed I﹣CVI was 0.8 ~ 1.0, S﹣CVI /Ave 0.68 and S-CVI/UA 0.96.(2)B part got eventually five first-level indexes and 21 secondary indexes by project analysis, validities and reliabilities test. The five factors accounted for 66.1% variances which were respectively named physical, health-related behavior, information practice, psychosocial and care resources. Their communality ranged from 0.503 to 0.805, and load factors were respectively 0.818 ~ 0.834, 0.653 ~ 0.867, 0.632 ~ 0.845, 0.699 ~ 0.837, 0.837 ~ 0.882. The Cronbach’a of total assessment was 0.826, each factor’s Cronbach’a 0.683, 0.910, 0.674, 0.700 and 0.755.Conclusions This assessment system which was analyzed by experts and psychological testing could comprehensively reflect characteristic of end-stage renal disease patients’ s continue nursing demand. It would be used for the nursing practice and research for travel together.
