| Sarcopenia is a common complication of chronic heart failure and one of the most important risk factors influencing prognosis of chronic heart failure patients. The researches in recent years indicated that angiotensin II,proinflammatory cytokines, myostatin, insulin–like growth factor-1,follistatin and testosterone play roles in the pathogenesis of sarcopenia induced by chronic heart failure. Moreover, physical exercise, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor and essential amino acid have therapeutic effects in the treatment of chronic heart failure-induced sarcopenia. The research progress of these fields was reviewed in this paper. |
