Background:Malaria is a serious harm to people’s life safety and health in China, and influences the social and economic development as an important parasitic disease. Malaria is a serious threat to the healthy growth of youngsters and children. In order to protect the people health and to promote the coordinated development of economy and society, China puts forward to eliminate malaria and to develop the national Malaria elimination program (2010-2020). In the work of eliminating Malaria, health education is an essential part as case report, treatment, monitoring, and media control. In the national Malaria elimination program (2010-2020), the understanding rate of primary and middle school students is an important assessment indicator of eliminating Malaria. By the end of 2015, about Malaria prevention and treatment the understanding rate of county residents will reach 80% and primary and middle school students will reach 85%. However, the prevention and treatment knowledge, belief and practice of residents and students is not optimistic in the endemic Malaria area. Therefore, by carrying out health education of Malaria knowledge, improving the level of Malaria knowledge, and comprehensively improving the attitude of preventing Malaria in the population. Preventing disease, promoting health and eliminating Malaria eventually are necessary.Objective:(1) In order to understand Malaria knowledge, attitudes, and prevention behavior and influential factors in Tongshan district of Xuzhou. (2) To explore the rule of Malaria health and to cultivate healthy behavior of preventing Malaria in primary student, establishing effective reliable and practical education pattern will provide a scientific basis and provide a reference for decision-making of relevant government departments.Methods:During September 2013-April 2014, by using the method of cohort study, the students of grade four and five and their parents were selected from 4 elementary schools in Tang-Zhang town for Malaria health propaganda. Two studies of health propaganda were carried out. To understand Malaria knowledge, attitudes, and Malaria prevention behavior of students and their parents, standardized effect index and the method of the difference between difference were used to evaluate the effect of propaganda.Results:(1) Malaria knowledge was not enough for the students and their parents. For the two questions of "malaria can infect" and "must got malaria drugs", the correct answers were 37.69% and 35.19%, respectively, and the others were less than 30%. (2) The elementary students and their parents was better for the attitude of learning Malaria knowledge.71.2% of elementary students and their parents and 68.50% of their parents thought that the malaria knowledge could have certain effect to prevent the disease. (3) The phenomenon of preventing Malaria was not normal and 12.20% of elementary students and 14.50% of their parents often slept outside.74% of elementary students and 82% of their parents could not see the doctor at the time of fever. (4) The standardization effect index was 0.46 in the group of parent education,0.65 in the group of student education,0.81 in the group of student and parent education. The pattern of elementary students and their parents accepting the health education was better.Conclusion:It is very important that for elementary students and their parents taking hea lth education activities at the same time can improve the level of student’s Malaria knowled ge, set up the correct attitude towards Malaria, develop good Malaria behavior.
