Objective : This analytical study aimed at conducting a retrospective investigation of echinococcosis cases, summarizing relevant characteristics of these cases, finding out risk factors of hepatic echinococcosis and learning the basic characteristics and development trend of Qinghai University Affiliated Hospital.Method:Systemized, calculated and analyzed medical records of 986 hepatic echinococcosis cases from January 1, 2012 to September 25, 2015, and recorded basic situations of patients, including their gender, age, nationality, occupation and residential place.Results:986 hepatic echinococcosis hospitalized cases were collected from Qinghai University Affiliated Hospital from January 1, 2012 to September 25, 2015. Among them, 383 were of the cystic type and 603 were of the alveolar type. Statistical analysis of annual cystic and alveolar hepatic echinococcosis data suggested a significant difference of the constituent ratio and statistical significance(χ2 = 47.229, P < 0.05). Among 986 cases, there were 539 female patients, accounting for 54.67 % of the total, and 447 male patients, accounting for 45.33 % of the total. These data thus obtained showed no significant difference. Cystic and alveolar hepatic echinococcosis cases underwent statistical analysis from the perspective of nationality, and the analytical results showed statistical significance(χ2=24.068, P<0.05). Statistical analysis of cystic of cystic and alveolar hepatic echinococcosis cases from the perspective of age showed a significance difference of the constituent ratio statistical difference(χ2=77.462, P<0.05). In different occupation groups, 757 cases were herdsmen, suggesting a significant difference of occupational distribution(χ2=38.234, P<0.05). In different region groups, 448 cases were found from Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Golog, suggesting a significant difference of regional distribution(χ2=163.434, P<0.05).Conclusion:Generally speaking, the number of hospitalized alveolar hepatic echinococcosis patients grew by a large margin on an annual basis. The constituent ratio of female patients was higher than that of male patients. In terms of nationality distribution, the number of Tibetan patients was on the top, followed by the Han patients. In terms of occupational distribution, the number of such cases found among herdsmen was far higher than that among other occupations. In terms of age distribution, the young-and middle-aged were the major population group suffering from hepatic echinococcosis. In terms of regional distribution, the prevalence rate in the source region of three rivers was significantly higher than that of other regions.
