Establishment And Application Of The Scale Evaluating Comliance Of Adolescent Orthodontic Patients

Objective The aim of this study is to work out a scale to evaluate the clinical compliance of adolescent orthodontic patients and explore related factors of compliance with the scale, provide references for further investigation and improment of compliance level.Methods 1.Establish the alternative iterms by refering to relevant literature,learning psychology and statistical and organizing panel discussions. Filter and order these iterms by further consulting and investigation, then work out the scale at last. 50 adolescent patients in accordance with the inclusive criteria were selected randomly for preliminary investication. Project analysis was adopted for evaluating discrimination evaluation of each iterm, Cronbach’s a coefficient was adopted for consistency reliability, Spearman correlation test was adopted for inter-rater reliability and content validity, factor analysis was adopted for construct validity. 2.255 adolescent orthodontic patients were selected randomly for investigation with the scale of compliance and the questionnaire of cognition, then explored the correlationship of compliance and gender, parental education, treatment time, treatment wishes, cognitive condition and so on.Results 1.The sale included 14 iterms, ordering them depending on the importance for compliance and appliance damaging ranked the first. 2.Project analysis showed that the identification of each item was qualified. Cronbach’s a coefficient of the scale was 0.803. Values of scorer reliability were greater than 0.7. The correlation coefficients between the score of each iterm and the total points were greater than 0.3 except A8, the correlation was statistically significant. Factor analysis extracted four main components, the variance contributionrate was 69.3%, factor analysis was logical. 3.The correlation test between gender, parental education and clinical compliance was not significant statistically, the correlation coefficient of treatment time and compliance was 0.341 and significant statistically, significant difference was also found in the correlation test between treatment wishes and cognitive condition, the correlation coefficients were 0.576 and 0.838 respectively.Conclusions 1.The reliability and validity of the scale we developed were qualified. 2.Stastical correlation was not found between gender, parental education and clinical compliance,correlation bitween treatment wishes, treatment time, cognitive condition and clinical compliance was statistically significant.
