Objectives:High morbidity and high mortality of gastric cancer, serious threat to human health. Gastric cancer postoperative recurrence and metastasis are the main causes of its high mortality rate. Therefore the postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy become an important part of comprehensive treatment for gastric carcinoma. Tumors need multidisciplinary treatment including Chinese medicine. The study patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group. Through clinical observation, objectively evaluated the clinical efficacy of Qizhu Decoction Modification in treating Qi and Yin deficiency syndrome of postoperative gastric cancer. The research also observed the safety during the treatment of Chinese medicine and provide clinical reference to combine traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine to treating postoperative gastric cancer. Methods:The study objects were 53 cases of patients with postoperative gastric cancer, which were divided into observation group and control group according to whether to accept Chinese medicine treatment. The control group was given paclitaxel/S-1 chemotherapy, then on the basis of the control group the Qizhu Decoction Modification was joined in the observation group. Before and after treatment by using statistical method to evaluate some indicators such as clinical symptoms of TCM, physical condition etc, to observe changes of imageological examination and tumor makers, and also to evaluate the safety of the treatment process. Finally to explore the therapeutic significance of Qizhu Decoction Modification in clinical treatment of gastric cancer. Results:At the aspect of TCM symptoms curative effect, observation group is better than control group (p<0.01), the total effective rate of the observation group is 80%, which is 32.1% in the control group. The scores of Karnofsky, the difference between the two groups after treatment is significant (p< 0.01), the physical condition improvement of observation group is better than the control group. It showed no significant difference about the chemotherapy curative effect evaluation between these two groups. Related tumor makers in the two groups after treatment has no significant statistical differences (p>0.05). The results show that Qizhu Decoction Modification has no obvious effect to improving the efficacy of chemotherapy or reducing tumor markers. The main side effects in the treatment were gastrointestinal reaction and blood toxicity. The incidence of the two groups Ⅲ/Ⅳ adverse reactions has no significant difference (p> 0.05), in the incidence of gastrointestinal reactions aspect, the numbers of patients with no gastrointestinal reactions in the observation group were more than that in the control group. It preliminary showed that Qizhu Decoction Modification had not increase the treatment of adverse reaction, and even played a role in reducing toxicity in some ways. Conclusion:This clinical study suggests that the combination of Qizhu Decoction Modification and paclitaxel/S-1 chemotherapy can improve clinical symptoms of postoperative gastric cancer patients, strengthen the patients and improve their quality of survival without increasing adverse reactions during treatments. At the same time, this method can reduce the incidence of gastrointestinal side effects. There is good security, reflecting the feasibility of combining traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine in the treatment of postoperative gastric cancer.
