Objective:To observe difference of the total curative effect and the effect of concomitant symptoms between acupoint injection around ears with dexamethasone and intravenous injection in the treatment of sudden deafness, the relationship between the effect and part related factors, and the occurrence of adverse reactions. To provide more choices for the treatment of sudden deafness. Methods:The 60 cases with sudden deafness met the inclusion criteria were divided into observation group 30 cases and control group 30 cases. The control group were treated with dexamethasone intravenous injection, combined with vasodilator drugs, improving microcirculation drugs, neurotrophic drugs and other conventional treatment. The observation group were treated with Tinggong and Yifeng acupoint injection with dexamethasone instead of intravenous injection. One period of treatment is 10 days, once every two days. To compare hearing threshold and symptom scores after one period of treatment. To evaluation the total curative effect and improvement of concomitant symptoms of two groups, and observe the effect of part related factors and the occurrence of adverse reactions. All the data were analyzed by the SPSS 19.0 software. Results:Two groups of the total curative effect, the curative effect of tinnitus and vertigo and the improment of average hearing threshold of impaired rated had no statistical significance (P> 0.05). The observation group of aural fullness were much better than the control group (P<0.05). Two groups of the scores of tinnitus and the average hearing threshold of impaired rated were much better than pretherapy after one period of treatment (P<0.05). The observation group of treatment time≤7 days efficiency was better than>7 days (P<0.05), but there was no statistical significance between the two groups (P>0.05). There was no significant difference between two groups in the mid, moderate-moderately severe and severe-very severe hearing loss (P>0.05). There was no significant difference in two groups of the curative effect with tinnitus or not and the curative effect with aural fullness or not (P>0.05). There was no significant difference between two groups in the visiting time, level of hearing loss, accompanying tinnitus or not, accompanying aural fullness or not (P>0.05). There were two cases occurred adverse reactions in the control group, and the safety of the observation group was better than that of the control group. Conclusion:There was no significant difference of the total curative effect and the effect of concomitant symptoms of tinnitus and vertigo between acupoint injection around ears with dexamethasone and intravenous injection. The former’s the effect of aural fullness was better and the adverse reactions were less. It is suitable for clinical application, especially for the patients with hormone intolerance. It is better for sudden deafness patients to be treated as early as possible. There was no significant correlation between the curative effect of two groups and the visiting time, level of hearing loss, accompanying tinnitus or not, accompanying aural fullness or not.
