Objective: To explore the status of occupational burnout and quality of life(QOL)as well as clarify the relationship between them among colliery migrant workers, which is beneficial to providing theoretical basis for making interventions and policies to alleviate occupational burnout and improve the QOL among these workers. Methods: By Multi-stage random sampling, 1161 colliery migrant workers were collected and assessed with the MBI-GS,the SF-36 and the self-made questionnaire. The reliability and validity of MBI-GS and SF-36 was tested respectively, multiple covariance was performed to analyze individual characteristics, whose influence factors were analyzed by optimal scaling regression. Besides, structural equations modeling of occupational burnout and QOL were established respectively. Results:(1) In construct validity of MBI-GS,three factors were selected by factor analysis, which consisted of emotional exhaustion, cynicism and reduced personal accomplishment. Their cumulative contribution rate was 68.84%, and each factor loading was greater than 0.40. With regard to the discriminant validity of MBI-GS, the restricted model’s chi square was quite different from the non-restricted model’s, obtaining statistical significance(P<0.05). The range of cronbach’s α coefficient was between 0.86 and 0.88.(2) In construct validity of SF-36, eight factors were selected by factor analysis, which consisted of PF, RP, BP, GH, VT, SF, RE, MH. Their cumulative contribution rate was 60.08%, and each factor loading was greater than 0.40. In discriminant validity of SF-36, restricted model of the chi square had great difference with non-restricted model, which had statistical significance(P<0.05). The range of cronbach’s α coefficient was between 0.66 and 0.90.(3) The scores of occupational burnout of each dimension showed significant differences among different individual characteristics(physical examination, sleep, et al)(P<0.05). The influence factors of occupational burnout were physical examination, chronic diseases, smoking, physical exercises, sleep, initial job in coal mine, posts and labor intensities.(4) In physiological and mental health filed of colliery migrant workers, the PF, RP, BP, GH and VT scores of them whose working ages were less than 5 years were higher than those workers’ scores who worked over 10 years. The scores of PF, RP, BP, GH, MH, VT and SF in the health group are higher, compared with the group of workers suffering from chronic diseases. The RP, GH and SF in the group with mild labor intensity resulted in higher scores compared with the group with severe labor intensity. The PF and RE in the group of non-initial coal mine work had higher scores, compared with them in the group of initial coal mine work. The PF, BP and VT in the group of the pre-employment physical examination had a higher score, compared with that without pre-employment physical examination. The MH scores in the group of smoking were higher than in the group of no smoking. These differences had statistical significance(P<0.05). Multiple factors analysis showed that working age, chronic diseases and initial coal mine work were the influential factors of PCS,and labor intensity, smoking and chronic diseases were the influential factors of MCS.(5) Structural equation model of occupational burnout and quality of life of colliery migrant workers, the overall model test results: χ~2 = 27.86(ν= 24, P = 0.27), which showed that the observed data and model of assumptions could be adapted. Absolute fit indexes: RMSEA value <0.08, GFI and AGFI values> 0.90. Incremental fit indexes: NFI, RFI, IFI, TLI and CFI values > 0.90. Parsimonious fit indexes: GFI and PNFI values > 0.90, CN value > 200, χ2/df <5.00, the ACI and CACI values of theoretical model were less than those in saturated model and independence model. Conclusions:(1)The reliability and validity of SF-36 and MBI-GS were basically consistent with the revised scale, which could be used for the investigation of colliery migrant workers.(2) Different individual characteristics affected the occurrence of occupational burnout.(3) There were some differences among different individual characteristics(e.g. working age). Working age, chronic disease, initial coal mine work, labor intensity, smoking were the influence factors of quality of life.(4) The structural equation model of occupational burnout and quality of life of migrant workers had reached the standard of adaptation, the structural equation model of assumptions could fit the sample data, the model could be accepted. The occupational burnout of colliery migrant workers was negatively correlated with PCS and MCS. That was to say, the more serious the colliery migrant workers’ degrees of occupational burnout were, the worse QOL in them were.
