ObjectiveThis research aims at observing the effect of fire needle curing chronic eczema in order to explore how it works and serves data for medical research on fire needle.MethodsThis study has collected 60 cases of chronic eczema from February 2015 to February 2016 in the acupuncture and dermatology department of First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.60 cases were randomly divided 30 cases into treatment group and 30 cases into control group. The treatment group was treated with fire needle three times a week and the control group was treated with Halometasone Cream once a day. The course of treatment was 3 weeks. The data of EASI according to eczema lesions was used to tell the difference between fire needle and Halometasone Cream on curative effect after three weeks of course treatment. It was to determine the recurrence of two therapies by telephone follow-up a month later at the end of treatment.ResultsAll of the treatment group and the control group finished experimental study. The 60 patients had neither significant difference in age and the course of disease (p>0.05) nor the gender of each group (x2=0.287, p=0.789). The two groups were comparable.Effect evaluation:the EASI score of treatment group was 13.89±5.00 before treatment and it was 3.22±3.05 after that, while the control group was 13.65 ±5.59 and 5.66±5.27. Among the treatment group 8 cases were cured,12 remarkably effective,7 effective,3 ineffective and the total improvement rate was 90%. On the other hand 5 cases were cured,13 remarkably effective, 6 effective,6 ineffective among the control group and the total improvement rate was 80%. The rank test result, p=0.030 (p<0.05), between the treatment group and the control group meant that there was significant difference between two groups, namely the effect of fire needle more effective than Halometasone Rream. In the telephone follow-up a month later after treatment, the 8 cured cases of the treatment group had no recurrence and 2cases from the 5 cured cases of the control group relapsed. It told that the fire needle was better than Halometasone Cream in long-term effect.ConclusionThe effect of fire needle is better than Halometasone Cream and fire needle can significantly reduce the patient’s condition. It can provide a more chronic eczema treatment, so the therapy is worth using widely.
